i should listen to my heart right? and not my mind?

Michel asked me to go to the movies with him. Well, technically he was asking me to do a favor for him. He was saying that his friends were going to go to the movies but they were bringing their girlfriends or whatever and he didn't want to be a third wheel. So I was like, "Why don't you ask someone else like Jessie or Tiffany?" cuz I figured he was closer to those two girls than me. But he was like, "Nahhhh." So I really don't know if he likes me or not. He's so confusing sometimes hahaha.

My mom says I shouldn't date him cuz he's Vietnamese. She says our cultures are too different (I'm Taiwanese) and that Vietnam is considered a lower status than Taiwan is or something. I think it's unfair that she's judging him by his race. I mean, I like him. So why can't I date him? My friend thinks that Michel might like me, too. But to be honest, I really don't know anymore.
